Several years ago, I rented an apartment in the 11th arrondisement of Paris near the Place de la Bastille, fames as the place where the French Revolution began in 1789. Bordering the square was a bistro advertising American-style burgers and it amused me to see Le Burger American prominently written on a menu chalkboard in such a historically significant French setting. Although I never ventured to taste Le Burger American, I often imagined what such a burger would taste like, thinking the beef would have to be blended with quintessential French ingredients like Dijon mustard, garlic, shallots, poivre and of course fleur de sel. Alas, all these years later, my revolutionary Burger American seasoning blend has been born.
